Good Read, Quality Material, Effective

I'm trying to get into a top B-School, but my math/quant background is weak, so I needed something to help me get up to speed.
So far, this book has been great. It's easy to follow (from my level), has on-point topics, and covers the breadth and depth for what it seems I'll need.
One caveat is that it uses UK notation, not US. So, some of the standard variable usage and formulas are different, which takes some adjustment. However, I did actually appreciate that this caused me to have to reach a better understanding of them rather than just applying wrote memory.

Not great. I find the explanations unnecessarily dense

Not great. I find the explanations unnecessarily dense. Examples are provided but usually only one per concept. Exercises are in the back of each chapter, though they would be more effective interspersed throughout the book. I would not recommend it.
